A REFERENCE FOR THE DISPLAY

A code is a clue.
Context makes it useful.

Before following a fix, identify exactly what the appliance is reporting and which documentation applies.

Read the whole display

Write down letters, numbers, spaces, and symbols as they appear. Record whether the display is steady or alternating. A photo can help you compare the display with the manual without relying on memory.

Do not silently substitute the letter O for the number 0, or combine two separate displays into one code. Look for the exact format in the relevant documentation.

Use three pieces of context

01 Manufacturer
The same letters or numbers may be used differently by different brands.
02 Appliance type
A washer code is not automatically a dishwasher, dryer, or refrigerator code, even under the same brand.
03 Full model number
Product families, generations, and model suffixes can change what documentation applies.

Separate the message from the diagnosis

A guide may describe a detected condition, a maintenance reminder, or an operating state. The manufacturer’s documentation determines which interpretation applies. A displayed code alone does not establish that a particular component has failed.

Use the article’s documented meaning and safe observations before drawing a repair conclusion. If service is the documented next step, further owner experimentation is not a substitute.

Check the scope before the steps

On ErrHive, a brand-level guide identifies the appliance or family covered by its source. A model-specific guide requires a verified model–code relationship and useful instructions particular to that model.

If your exact model is not listed, do not treat its absence as proof of either compatibility or incompatibility. Consult the model’s official manual or manufacturer support.

Keep the source nearby

The sources at the end of a diagnostic guide show which manufacturer documents support it. Check those references for model limits and warnings, particularly before any step that depends on a control sequence, accessible filter, or installation detail.

ErrHive’s explanations are independent editorial summaries. A documentation check is not manufacturer endorsement or a claim that we tested the appliance.
